What kind of client are you?
Votes: 274Through the years I've worked with many different clients, and I've come to realize there are a few types, some easer to work with than others.
Know it all
This person seems to know how to best organize content, design, and market the website. They will insist on doing things just like Site X, however their own site has a completely diferent scope, and that other site is usually wrong in how things were done anyway. I'm not saying I've never learned anything from a client, but his type you'r ebetter off showing them the door and thank them for the meeting.
The Schitzo
Things start great, you how them a few ideas and you're off and running they feel good, you feel good, nothing could be better. Then a week later, the bodysnatcher must have come and now the client has all new ideas, and wants to re-arrange content/homepage features, add/remove whole feature sets, even the color scheme and design could be wrong. So here you are at square one. Then as you progress further things continue to change, most times you end up closer to where you started. If they pay well, stick it out and you'll have learned something.
Mr. Aloof
This client calls you up, excitedly asks when is the earlyist you can meet. At the meeting the client is loving it, you are the savior, with downpayment in hand (you get down payments right?) you eagerly begin working. Maybe the first volley of drafts and comments goes fine, and then, as quickly as they came, they go. Then a month later call you up and are a bit angry at the lack of progress, but fail to see how they were the ones neglecting the project, you were waiting for further direction.
