Sometimes we need to be puzzled
Votes: 439Lately in the office, it's been crazy, deadlines looming, projects overdue, and such. Sometimes no matter how hard you work things just don't come any easier, sometimes you need a good distraction when you work in a creative business.
Last week we received a promotional piece from Veer, the stock photography place, and it was a "buy $500 and get $100", the more you spend the more you save type of thing. Honestly we thought it was a bit silly, grown ups having to to something so "childish", bit then again creative types tend to be like children in many ways, I hope to never loose that (although my wife might like me to grow up a bit).
What was it?
It was a puzzle, a 500 piece puzzle. Just to find a promo code for something we really won't use (Veer is nice, but we can live with out spending that much on photos). So there we are, pieces spread all over, during a busy week, and saying out loud " we really need to get back to work" , "this is the opposite of productivity", but then we also found our selves saying "I haven't done a puzzle in years" , "This is so much fun", "Ok, I think I'll have to buy a puzzle now". From the lowly designers like myself, to our Sr. Account VP, we all pitched in, toward one common goal, saving $100.
Did we get it?
The funny thing is, we'll never get that goal, like I said, we never wanted the $100, really, what got was a stronger team, and we'll take that over $100. We ended up finishing the puzzle that day, it was bitter sweet really, we learned quite a bit about ourselves and our creative team that day.
So I've come away with this, when I have my own website design studio , there will always be an unfinished puzzle. Oh, and what about our creative team? You we have another one, we finished the boarder today.
